Based in the Deerness Valley in County Durham in the North East of England, Deerness Pipes was founded by instrument maker Ian Corrigan and piper Paul Martin.

Ian - Pipe Manufacturer

Ian has been making bespoke Border, English and Scottish Small pipes for musicians for many years and brings with him years of experience and a reputation for precision engineering and fine craftsmanship.

Paul - Pipe Player

Paul has been playing pipes since the age of twelve. He began playing Highland pipes in pipe bands but soon became involved in local folf music, playing Smallpipes, Border pipes and Uilleann pipes. Paul plays the full range of instruments made by Deerness Pipes in his band Horseplay.

We specialise in making Border, English, and Small pipes, instruments which are currently seeing a great revival of interest. In keeping with the long tradition of pipe making, our instruments are tailored to the needs of the individual player.

We use timber from sustainable, and where possible, local sources. All of our instruments are set-up and played in by Paul prior to dispatch to give you a tried and tested instrument with the accuracy, stability and tonal quality to match its beauty and build quality.
